The first Santa Teresa port of entry was for cattle crossing in 1991. From the exclusive agricultural crossing it became later a passenger and commercial crossing. It currently has passenger lanes and commercial lanes with the lowest wait times in the border area. Santa Teresa is the only port of entry in the region that processes most types of exported used vehicles destined for resale in Mexico. Hundreds of thousands of cattle cross each year making the port host to the largest import/export facility in the Union Ganadera Regional de Chihuahua.
The port of Santa Teresa has the SAGARPA/SENASICA inspection for agricultural equipment.
